About the exam

SnowPro Core Certification

The SnowPro Core Certification is Snowflake's core credential for people who work with the Snowflake platform. The certification page says a candidate has 6 or more months of experience using Snowflake. If that describes your work, this practice test shows how well you know the topics the certification covers. The certification page groups the content into five domains: Features & Architecture (31%), Performance Optimization, Querying, and Transformation (21%), Account Management and Data Governance (20%), Data Loading, Unloading, and Connectivity (18%), and Data Collaboration (10%). Our questions are short, self-contained scenarios with exactly one correct answer. The real exam mixes multiple-select and multiple-choice items, so this practice test does not match the real format in every way.

Our questions are original, written from the Snowflake certification page and Snowflake product documentation, and each answer is explained. Studying nearby topics? What to focus on for the SnowPro Core

  • Treating Snowflake features as available in every edition, when a feature depends on the edition the account runs.
  • Mixing up Time Travel and Fail-safe, and what each one can restore and for how long.
  • Assuming a materialized view stays current without checking how Snowflake maintains it when its base table changes.
  • Confusing a role's privileges with object ownership when deciding who can create or change a resource.
  • Read the five domains on the certification page, note each weight, and rate yourself on each one.
  • Take this free practice test one section at a time, read every explanation, then retake your weakest section.

Sample SnowPro Core practice questions

Three questions pulled straight from the bank, with the answer shown. For the timed, no-peeking version, use the quiz above.

Question 1 · Features & Architecture
A developer overwrote rows in a table an hour ago and wants to see the earlier values. What does Time Travel allow during its retention period?
  • Access to data as it was before it was changed or deleted
  • Access to the full change history of the account with no limit
  • Access to deleted data only after the Fail-safe period ends
  • Access to dropped tables only, not to rows that were changed

Why: Time Travel gives access to historical data, meaning data that was changed or deleted, at any point within a defined period. It covers changed rows as well as dropped objects, and it is limited to the retention period.

Question 2 · Features & Architecture
An engineer asks what Snowflake automatically records about each micro-partition to help skip data at query time. What does it store?
  • Only the total row count, with no information per column
  • A partition key value the user must declare at table creation
  • The range of values and number of distinct values per column
  • A B-tree index on each column, rebuilt after every load

Why: Snowflake maintains metadata for each micro-partition, including the range of values and number of distinct values for each column. This is automatic, so no user-defined partition keys are needed.

Question 3 · Account Management & Governance
A team lead with a custom role wants to create a resource monitor. What do the docs say about who can create one?
  • Any role with MONITOR USAGE on the account can create one
  • Any role with CREATE WAREHOUSE can create a resource monitor
  • Only SYSADMIN can create one, and SECURITYADMIN can edit it
  • Only the ACCOUNTADMIN role can create a resource monitor

Why: Only users with the ACCOUNTADMIN role can create a resource monitor, although an account administrator can grant other roles privileges to view and modify them. Holding warehouse privileges does not allow creating a monitor.

FAQ

Is this the real exam?

What is the passing score for SnowPro Core?

Snowflake lists a passing score of 750 on a scaled score from 0 to 1000. Our practice test uses its own pass mark, which is not Snowflake's.

Does the real SnowPro Core exam include multiple-select questions?
