About the exam
Associate Cloud Engineer
Associate Cloud Engineer is a Google Cloud certification for people who deploy applications, monitor operations and manage enterprise solutions on Google Cloud (GCP). It is the hands-on, technical entry point to the Google Cloud engineering track, and it suits cloud engineers, developers, administrators and anyone moving into a cloud operations role. The exam guide groups the content into four sections: setting up a cloud solution environment, planning and implementing a cloud solution, ensuring the successful operation of a cloud solution, and configuring access and security. Most questions describe a team's situation and ask which service, setting or command fits, so you need to know what each product is for and how its settings behave, not only the names.
Our questions are original, written from the Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer exam guide and Google Cloud product documentation, and each answer is explained. Studying nearby topics? What to focus on for the Associate Cloud Engineer
- Studying only from reading. The exam is built around hands-on work, so try the services in a free project or the console, and run the main gcloud commands yourself.
- Mixing up look-alike services, such as Cloud Run versus GKE Autopilot, or Bigtable versus Spanner. Learn the access pattern and scale each one is designed for.
- Getting access and security wrong. Predefined versus custom roles, service account impersonation versus keys, and where a policy is attached in the resource hierarchy all come up repeatedly.
- Skipping operations. Logging, monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting a failing setup (for example a firewall blocking SSH or a health check) are a large share of the exam.
- Work through the Cloud Engineer learning path linked from Google Cloud's certification page, and open a free project to practice what you read.
- Take this free practice test one section at a time, read every explanation, then retake your weakest section.
Sample Associate Cloud Engineer practice questions
Three questions pulled straight from the bank, with the answer shown. For the timed, no-peeking version, use the quiz above.
Why: The Ops Agent sends logs to Cloud Logging and metrics to Cloud Monitoring. Cloud Storage, Cloud Trace and swapped destinations are not where the agent sends its data.
Why: Pricing data is not added retroactively, so you won't see pricing data from before you enable export. That is why enabling the export early is recommended.
Why: You must install the gke-gcloud-auth-plugin to use kubectl and other clients with GKE. The other agents handle monitoring, database connections and VM patching.
FAQ
Associate Cloud Engineer questions, answered
How much does the exam cost and how do I register?
Google Cloud lists the fee as $125 plus tax where applicable for the standard exam. Registration and the current price are on the Google Cloud certification page (checked November 2026), so confirm there before you book. Google Cloud certification page.
Is this the real exam?
No. This is a free mock test made of original questions we wrote from Google Cloud's public documentation. It is not the real exam, it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google Cloud, and it cannot promise a pass.
Does the real exam have questions with more than one correct answer?
Yes. Google's certification page says the exam has multiple choice and multiple select questions and does not publish how many of each. Every question here has exactly one correct answer, so the real exam differs in that respect.
Is the timed test the same as the real Associate Cloud Engineer exam?
No. Ours has 50 questions in 120 minutes, all single-answer, with a 70% practice pass mark we chose ourselves. Google Cloud's own format is in the exam facts.
How should I use this Associate Cloud Engineer practice test?
Start with quick practice and read every explanation, including for the answers you got right. Then check Where you stand to find your weakest section, practice it again, and finish with a timed test.
